Museum Day

A friend and I decided to go on a little excursion visiting the main exhibitions since we have been complaining quite a bit on the lack of art exhibitions in Singapore.

We termed it "Museum Day".

My designer friend is slightly dyslexic

I found myself indulging in the exhibits at the National Museum. Despite my complaints and whining, these displays actually intrigue me and I have to admit that they are brilliant. Still, I believe there's more that can be done.

The "Beauty in Black" exhibition was mesmerizing. It was nestled in a little corner on level 2 of the museum but I'm awed by what a little space can do. If you are into fashion, this is the exhibition for you.

After viewing exhibits in colonial buildings, we were off to an entirely different world. I thought I was on a space ship. It was an exciting thought visiting the Art Science Museum and after reading the synopsis of Van Gogh Alive, my expectations skyrocketed. However, it was much of a disappointment. There were no permanent exhibitions, just an introduction and a level of gallery is not done up.

Van Gogh Alive has an interesting way of presenting more than a few thousands of Van Gogh's work, combining photos of war and the impressionist's paintings. Honestly, I expected more, especially after visiting the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Giving the artist who put that up credit, it has integrated science and art into one and it was a great effort. Just thought that more could have been done.

I like how they displayed children's artwork along Youth Olympics Park
